It is an academic discipline of immense scope and diverse interests that, when taken together, seek an understanding of the emergent properties of brains, and all the variety of epiphenomena they manifest. As a social science it aims to understand individuals and groups by establishing general principles and researching specific cases.

Studying psychology in Slovakia takes 5 years to complete (3 years of a bachelor's degree, 2 years of a master's degree). There are several universities offering this study program across the Slovakia both in Slovak or English language. 

Universities offering Psychology Studies in Slovakia

There are 9 universities offering psychology education across the Slovakia. The majority of them is located in Western Slovakia, however you can study Psychology also in the Central or Eastern Slovakia.

Western Slovakia

Bratislava - Comenius University, Pan-European University,  St. Elizabeth University of Health and Social Work 

• Comenius University in Bratislava (CU)

  Comenius University, established in 1919, is Slovakia's largest and oldest university. The Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts offers accredited programs at the bachelor's (Bc.), master's (Mgr.), and doctoral (PhD.) levels, primarily in Slovak.​

  The Institute of Applied Psychology at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences provides programs in Social and Work Psychology (bachelor's and master's) and Health Psychology (doctoral studies), available in both Slovak and English. ​

• Pan-European University 

  Founded in 2011, the Faculty of Psychology at Pan-European University is the only faculty dedicated solely to psychology in Slovakia. It offers comprehensive education across all three academic cycles: bachelor's, master's, and doctoral (PhD.) degrees. Additionally, a professional doctorate (PhDr.) can be pursued. Instruction is primarily in Slovak.

•  St. Elizabeth University of Health and Social Work in Bratislava

  Founded in 2003, the university offers a range of programs across various levels of study such as Psychology, Social work and Sociology. This university provides Psychology study program only at bachelor degree in Slovak language.

Trnava - University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (UCM)
UCM is a public university known for its focus on humanities and social sciences. The Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts offers psychology programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, conducted in Slovak.​

Nitra - Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (UKF)
UKF is a modern institution emphasizing humanities and social sciences. The Faculty of Social Sciences and Health Care offers bachelor's and master's programs in Psychology, as well as doctoral studies in related fields. Programs are taught in Slovak.

Central Slovakia

Banská Bystrica - Matej Bel University (UMB)
The Faculty of Education at Matej Bel University offers a master's program in Psychology. Applicants are required to have completed a bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field. The program is conducted in Slovak. ​

Ružomberok- Catholic University in Ružomberok (CU)
The Faculty of Arts and Letters offers psychology programs at both the bachelor's and master's levels. While the primary language of instruction is Slovak, selected subjects may be available in English.

Eastern Slovakia

Košice - Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (UPJŠ)
UPJŠ is renowned for its strong programs in various disciplines. The Faculty of Arts offers psychology programs at the bachelor's and master's levels in both Slovak and English. The master's program emphasizes areas such as clinical psychology, counseling and school psychology, and psychology of work and organizations. ​

Prešov - University of Prešov
The Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts offers programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels in General Psychology, available in both Slovak and English
