Meet Andrew Rinaldi Sinulingga, a PhD student who is currently staying in Slovakia via National Scholarship Programme. He is staying in Bratislava and doing research at his hosting institution Comenius University, The Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Department of Biological and Medical Science. My name is Andrew Rinaldi Sinulingga, a PhD student in sports sciences at the RSU Latvian Academy of Sports Education in Latvia. I am from Indonesia and a lecturer in the Department of Sport Education at the University of Riau, Indonesia. I have been awarded the Slovak National Scholarship for the April 2024 application period, which supports my research as part of my PhD project at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Comenius University in Bratislava. This scholarship provides an opportunity to further enhance my knowledge and expertise in sports science.

During my time in Slovakia, I am conducting research” the effects of the of fatigue protocol on hamstring muscle strength and vertical jumps”. This study is part of my PhD project, focusing on understanding fatigue-induced reductions in power and strength in lower limb performance.

The research also involves collaboration with scientists and PhD students from Comenius University in Bratislava. Together, we plan to conduct research for future publication. Before coming to Slovakia, I was familiar with my supervisor, Prof. Mgr. Erika Zemková, PhD, through her numerous articles in reputable journals. She is a renowned expert in postural stability, directly related to my PhD project.

Additionally, I have had the opportunity to attend several courses led by Prof. Zemková and other researchers at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport. My supervisor also invited me to the Národné športové Centrum (National Sports Center), where I had the chance to explore the latest equipment and materials for physical assessments in sports.

In terms of expenses and accommodation, my experience in Slovakia has been quite similar to the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta. Slovakia's central location in Europe facilitates easy travel to other European countries. I have been able to explore nearby destinations, which has been a wonderful experience.

The people in Slovakia are friendly and always willing to help, making it simple to settle in and feel at home. Additionally, my time in Slovakia has allowed me to experience the local culture and hospitality. I acknowledge Slovakia is an excellent educational hub in Central Europe, offering outstanding academic opportunities and a rich cultural experience.  The SAIA (Slovak Academic Information Agency) does an excellent job supporting international students. I am deeply grateful to SAIA providing me an impressive opportunity for academic and professional growth.
